About L J Burnley

LJ Burnley - Author of When All Else fails

I grew up in Pudsey, Leeds, West Yorkshire, and always enjoyed writing as a child, from poems to songs and short stories.

I found a problem with writing songs and poetry; my imagination would run away with me and they would grow too big for purpose.

I started writing When all else fails (WAEF) way before I could afford a typewriter or computer, so with pen and paper.

Again, my imagination ran away with me and one book turned into three.

‘When All Else Fails Trilogy’

Book One

Transferring my documents to computer was a complex task, considering the fact that I was editing and changing from chapters to a date format that would switch between past and present.

In 2012 When All Else Fails, book one was complete and with that thought in mind I looked for publishing options.

My daughter, Scarlett, got to work on designing the cover while I approached a local self-publisher. To get paperback copies printed I was looking around the region of ten thousand pounds…

What!

Finally, I found Dolman Scott and the process started of turning my dream into a reality.

There was a lot of work to be done and I was under a massive deadline if I wanted printed copies to arrive before Christmas. With a lot of help and patience from Richard Chalmers WAEF was born.

Moving to kindle was easier to publish the other books, however no less a task to transfer and edit from paper copies to word. You Hold My Heart and The Path of Fate conclude the ‘When All Else Fails’ Trilogy.

Shattered Dreams was released in August, and was quite a difficult book to write. I set myself a challenge and with it came an incredible amount of hard work. I chose 7 Characters; male and female, invented them, created them and wrote as if I were those characters.

Shattered Dreams has no chapters. I’ve written in date and a time order and switched between my people as was necessary.

I hope you take the time to read my books and I hope you like my style of writing. I am deep, but deep makes a good read. There isn’t always a happy ever after; That is life….
