A Gripping and emotional read
“I absolutely couldn’t put this book down! Never have I felt such empathy with a character in a novel before. The book is gripping, emotional, and takes you through twists and turns like no other book in this genre that I have read before. I am so looking forward to see what happens to Fran next! Fantastic read!”

Excellent read
“Wow what a book, I really enjoyed it and it was so gripping that at times I found myself saying out loud, “For God’s sake leave him.” Once I started reading it I found it very hard to put down, almost to the point where I was nearly making tea one handed! Would recommend this 110%.”

“I think When all else fails has a lot of appeal although to a younger market than myself. The book is well written and given the chance I’m sure it would do well. I can understand the attraction between Marcus and Fran, Marcus the older man a wealthy lawyer and attractive, Fran a beautiful young girl. To me he was a Svengali character and had a “hold” on her. Otherwise why would she stay with him when he treated her so badly, to me it was that she couldn’t help herself going back each time for more. She even told herself when she was in for a punishment, “come on lets get it over with.” I think it was a lot more than sexual attraction, almost like a habit that you crave knowing its killing you but you can’t escape it. For me she also seemed to dress always to attract his attention. I think the author describes the characters well as I could picture them both throughout.”

“Having seen the thickness of the book it took me a couple of weeks to pluck up the courage to tackle it, how wrong was I? Once started I got so involved I found it difficult to put down, gripping, sexy and keeps you wanting to know what happens next. Hurry up with the second as I need to know what happens next.”

“‘When all else fails’ by L J Burnley. What can I say? What a fantastic read. As soon as I started reading this novel, I was totally hooked. I totally got lost in the storyline and found my emotions were up and down in parts. Well done and I look forward to the next.”
Dawn Baker – 13/10/2013

“I finished it and OMG! I have never felt so strongly about domestic violence in my life. I understood some of why she stayed, but bloody hell, that woman was so embroiled with love and lust it consumed her. I understand loving someone so much that it hurts but to stay to stay and endure the pain like that? This book has been the only one that I have yelled at and screamed at and at the same time loved and got annoyed.”
Susan Turner – 12/02/2014

“Came across this book after reading Fall on Me and I’m so glad I purchased this. I found this hard to read at times but at the same time I couldn’t put it down. My emotions were all over the place and that to me is the sign of a good, no fantastic read. I won’t put any spoilers in my review but if anybody reads my review and is debating whether or not to try this book, download a sample I guarantee you will be wanting more and this book doesn’t disappoint. Well done to the author and I can’t wait for book 2. Does anybody have any indication when this will be available?”

Debbie – 05/09/14

“Seriously I don’t think I’ve any enamel left from grinding my teeth and having to take breaks from reading when it became too much. I found myself getting angry with Fran and constantly wondering why she didn’t leave him sooner and after finishing this very emotional read I have to say that the only conclusion I can draw from this is that Fran was physically strong because let’s face it to be able to take beating after beating she had to be strong, but Fran was emotionally very weak and believed everything was her fault and that she could fix it. Wow some very powerful emotions will strike you as you read this book.”
Susan Boland – 30/09/14

“What a great story and so liked the writing style and the real life emotions and top marks on handling a very touchy subject with no holes barred. Would greatly recommend this book to others as it’s not one to be missed or the other in the series.”

‘When All Else Fails’ has got to be the most gripping books I’ve ever read, I loved them to the point I was getting angry at Fran with her endless mistakes. I found it hard turning my kindle off and kept telling myself 5 more mins of reading. Just downloaded the 3rd one can’t wait to start reading it.”

Rhiannon – 24/10/14

“I have read all 3 of these books and loved them all. Very emotional at the beginning of this book, don’t suppose my pregnancy hormones helped but it was definitely worth reading and loved the ending. Feel a little lost now it’s finished! Well done LJ can’t wait for your next book.”
Nicola – 11/01/15

Omg, I was so engrossed in the story, I never noticed the grammar. As readers we should be encouraging authors to create good stories, the grammar can come later. After all, was 50 shades spell checked? I think not!!
We’ll done L J Burnley, a fantastic read.”
Lynne Duce – 20/02/15

Shattered Dreams

This journey was like a huge spiders web, evil behaviour and intriguing levels of deceit form the crux of this book. I would highly recommend every reader takes the time to travel through the murky waters of ‘Shattered Dreams’. I enjoyed the main characters Tyler and Rayne. Didn’t quite ‘get’ Evelyn. Loved the plot, I was shocked by the twists n turns which had me losing sleep till I reached the end. 5 STARS
Sandy Dean – 04/12/16

I have read L J Burnley’s other 3 books, and each time I finished one I couldn’t wait to read the next, as with this one. Loved the twists and turns and a brilliant ending (wasn’t expecting the end so was thrilled to find the ending out) To say she has only written four books I’m very impressed with her writing so I’m glad I stumbled upon her books. Keep up the brilliant writing, I can’t wait for “Pandora” I am sure it will be as good as the other’s.
